SUMMARY:Webinar: Routine Safety Measures and Legal Rights in Freelance Journalism
DESCRIPTION:So far this century worldwide\, more than 2\,100 journalists have been killed on the job (cpj.org). For others\, harassment\, doxxing and wrongful police detention or indiscriminate use of force by law enforcement has become much more frequent. Digital surveillance by both government agencies and corporations also is an increasing threat. All of these factors are especially acute for independent journalists. \nClearly\, in order to tell their stories\, protect their sources and safeguard their own freedom\, freelancers need new skills.  This course\, moderated by a veteran independent journalist\, is designed to help reporters address physical safety threats on the job\, improve digital security\, and gain access to free and low-cost legal and advocacy services.
